OzLeisure.com.au October newsletter
More goodies on the wayWell, you would have seen the new version of the website by now, with it's "web 2.0" look-and-feel, and all of the new features that were released. Just because that is now live, it doesn't mean that our developers are now sitting with their feet on the desk, eating pizza. Quite the reverse in fact. The new website now allows for easier development of new features, and the result of that there are a number of exciting new features in the works, which will be released in the next couple of weeks. Here is a taste of the goodies to come: MyOzleisureThe upcoming MyOzleisure section will be a place where you can store your favourite items. You will be able to mark any activity or artist profile as a "favourite", you can also save search criteria for the searches that you run all the time, as well as being able store your way points for use with all of the turn-by-turn direction maps that were introduced with the September update. Besides being able to sore and manage those favourite items, the site will now track (when you are logged in), which activities, events, artist profiles and exhibitions that you view, and show the latest 10 of each in your "most recently viewed" items of the MyOzleisure section. This will make it much easier for you to re-visit activities and things that you looked at previously, and are unable to remember the name of. As well as these items, the MyOzLeisure section also provides a place where you can easily update your registration information, allowing you to modify your e-mail address and password should they need to be changed and other options which will turn up in coming months.Distance searchingIt's all very well searching around the website to find the activities and other things that you are looking for, but what about if you don't really know what to look for? You know where you are, and you know where you are planning to go, but you would like to know which activities are available in the area. OzLeisure has come to the rescue for you here, and we will be introducing "radius" searching. You will be able to select either a postcode or a suburb name, and a number of kilometers from that point, and we will search for all of the activities that fall within that radius. Easy.Event searchingThe new and improved event calendars have proved to be very useful indeed, but they can still be better. And they soon will be. The calendars are great if you are looking for events on a certain day, but less good if you are looking to find out when a specific event is on, or to find all of the events of a certain type. So, once again, OzLeisure to the rescue; we will be introducing a system for searching through the event calendars to find matching items based on keywords. We hope that helps. All of these new features will be released by the end of October, so watch out for them.Activity spotlight
