The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (Queensland Section) is a highly professional and technologically advanced organisation and is a major provider of emergency aeromedical and primary health care in Queensland.
The Cairns Base opened on 1st July 1972 when it relocated from RFDS Charters Towers. It covers an area around 800,000 square kilometres. The service area is from Torres Strait in the north, to west of Sarina in the south, and to Normanton in the west.
Tours are conducted every half hour from 9:00am to 4:30pm. - providing a comprehensive overview of the history and contemporary operations of the RFDS. www.flyingdoctorqueensland.net
